IT Coordinator - Job Description
November 2026
LA Region IT Coordinator · Part-time, non-exempt · Los Angeles region
Keep Our Community Connected
At Sender One, our purpose is to help people discover themselves and connect with others - and we do it by building climbing communities. Our gym communities across Southern California are where first-timers discover that they're stronger than they thought, where kids celebrate milestones and bond with peers, and where strangers build lifelong friendships.
None of that happens if the front desk can't check anyone in. Behind every smooth visit is a web of tech: check-in stations, point-of-sale, Wi-Fi, cameras, laptops, printers, and the software our teams live in every day. We're looking for an IT Coordinator who wants to be the person who keeps that web humming, so our staff can focus on people instead of passwords.
Why This Role Matters
Think of yourself as the belayer for our tech. You're not always the one on the wall, but when something slips, you're the one who catches it.
You'll be the on-the-ground IT lead for our LA region gyms, while also working hand-in-hand with our managed IT partner, Affant. They handle the heavy lifting; you make sure every request gets resolved, every install goes smoothly, and every staff member walks away feeling helped. When IT works well, nobody notices - and that's exactly the point.
What You'll Own
Be the go-to for tech help
- Provide tech support to Sender One staff in partnership with our IT support vendor (Affant), with the same friendly, patient service we give our members.
- Respond to IT requests quickly and keep them moving until they're closed.
- Walk staff through urgent fixes remotely when you can't be on-site.
Keep the gear in great shape
- Own the lifecycle of our IT equipment: ordering, tracking, maintaining, and responsibly retiring it.
- Oversee cleaning, repairs, and replacements so nothing breaks down at the worst moment (like a Saturday rush).
- Spot better ways to handle maintenance and inspections, then put them into practice.
Coordinate installs and upgrades
- Schedule IT installations and upgrades with gym staff and Affant so they land with minimal disruption.
- Follow sound risk-management practices so upgrades don't turn into outages.
Keep our partners and spend on track
- Hold Affant accountable for resolving their assigned requests on time.
- Work within the IT spending plan and help us spend wisely.
- Clear obstacles for the team so they can get back to building community.
Qualifications
What A Send Looks Like
You'll know you're making an impact when:
- Bugs, breakdowns, and other IT problems get addressed quickly.
- Staff rave about IT support (we track this with an internal feedback form).
- Projects run on time and don't eat up more hours than they should.
- IT spending stays within plans and expectations.
- Front desk terminals, Wi-Fi, and other IT systems just work, so our teams can stay focused on providing a great member experience.
How You'll Live Our Values
Our core values aren't posters on the wall. Here's what they look like in this role:
- Lead the Pitch - You see the flickering check-in screen and fix it before anyone files a ticket. You take ownership and show the team the way forward.
- Find Creative Beta - You ask "why do we do it this way?" and bring a better way when you find one.
- See Things From Other Perspectives - Not everyone speaks tech. You listen first, explain without jargon, and meet the stressed-out desk lead in the middle of a rush with kindness.
- Climb Together - You catch your teammates when their tech falls, and you ask for a hand when you need one.
- Learn From Your Projects and Send Them - Some fixes take a few attempts. You own the misses, learn from them, and keep working the problem until it's sent.
Who You Are
You're the friend everyone calls when their laptop acts up - and you actually enjoy it. You're organized, adaptable, and good at juggling several projects without dropping any. You bring:
- Working knowledge of IT systems and processes (networks, hardware, troubleshooting).
- Comfort with Google Workspace: Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Drive, and friends.
- Experience teaching or giving instruction - you can explain a fix so it sticks.
- The ability to coordinate across teams and outside vendors, and keep everyone moving.
- Openness to giving and receiving feedback, plus the drive to keep growing.
Bonus points for familiarity with Redpoint, Rock Gym Pro, and/or Basecamp, and for a love of climbing. We'll happily teach you the rest.
The Opportunity
Sender One’s Finance team is accountable for measuring, collecting, and reporting data to the rest of the team. Consequently, this role reports to our Chief Finance Geek (a.k.a. CFO) and touches every team in the LA region. It's a chance to grow your IT skills in a real, multi-location business - and to do it somewhere with chalk on the floor and a wall to climb after your shift.
If you love solving problems and helping people, we'd love to meet you.
