CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR Location: Lynchburg, Virginia | Full-Time | Monday-Friday Salary: $65,000-$95,000 Annually (Based on Experience and Qualifications) Schwartz and Associates, Inc., an established structural engineering firm with offices in Lynchburg and Roanoke, Virginia, is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Construction Inspector to join our team at our Lynchburg office. Our firm specializes in the design and inspection of bridges and related structures. The ideal candidate will possess experience in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and construction personnel. Position Responsibilities - Monitor construction activities to verify compliance with applicable plans, specifications, and established standards. - Maintain accurate inspection reports, documentation, and project records. - Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders. - Identify and report construction deficiencies, discrepancies, or potential concerns. - Perform fieldwork in various outdoor conditions and construction environments. Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum of 2 years of relevant construction inspection experience, preferably involving bridges and roadways. - Valid Virginia driver's license. - Basic computer proficiency and ability to prepare and maintain inspection documentation. - Ability and willingness to perform outdoor fieldwork at active construction sites. Preferred Qualifications - Associate degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a related field. - Current VDOT construction inspection certifications. - 3-5+ years of relevant bridge and roadway construction inspection experience. - Familiarity with VDOT construction specifications, inspection procedures, and documentation requirements.
