Job Summary:
Saint Ignatius College Prep seeks Basketball Game Operators (scoreboard operators, scorebook keepers, shot clock operators, and video board operators) for the upcoming season. Game Operators provide a necessary component in following IHSA and Athletic Department standards and procedures during on-campus basketball games. The ideal candidate brings reliability, enthusiasm, communication, and basketball knowledge, along with the availability to work weeknights and Saturdays for home Saint Ignatius boys' and girls' basketball games. Training will be provided before the season begins and will continue through the winter season.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scoreboard Operator: Operate the scoreboard and game clock accurately, following IHSA and Athletic Department standards and procedures.
- Scorebook Keeper: Maintain the official scorebook for home games, accurately recording scoring, fouls, timeouts, and other game information.
- Shot Clock Operator: Operate the shot clock in coordination with game officials and the scoreboard operator.
- Video Board Operator: Operate the video board during home games in support of the game-day experience and in accordance with Athletic Department guidelines.
- Participate in training provided before and during the season, and communicate and collaborate with the Athletic Department, game officials, and fellow table workers to ensure smooth and professional game operations.
Qualifications – Required
- Demonstrated reliability, enthusiasm, support, and organization in support of Saint Ignatius Athletics and the basketball programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team at the scorer's table.
- Availability to work weeknights and Saturdays for home Saint Ignatius basketball games.
- Willingness to complete training provided before and during the season.
Qualifications – Preferred
- Previous table worker and/or basketball experience is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of basketball and a willingness to learn IHSA and Athletic Department standards and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy under game-day conditions.
- Reliable, enthusiastic, and supportive of Saint Ignatius student-athletes and basketball programs.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work weeknights and Saturdays at on-campus home basketball games during the winter season.
- Ability to remain attentive and focused for the duration of a game while working at the scorer's table or video board.
Compensation and Schedule
- Seasonal, part-time position for the winter basketball season.
- Weeknight and Saturday availability required for home Saint Ignatius basketball games.
- Compensation: $50 per varsity game; paid at the end of the season.
