We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support a growing organization in Beachwood, Ohio. This is a Contract position suited for an accounting specialist with hands-on experience in core financial operations, tax support, and general ledger activity. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting principles, works comfortably in a fast-paced environment, and can contribute effectively with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and record journal entries to maintain accurate and timely financial data.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Assist with corporate tax activities, including support for tax return preparation and related documentation.
- Manage sales tax processes by reviewing transactions, maintaining records, and helping ensure compliance with filing requirements.
- Support monthly and periodic close activities by compiling financial information and validating account balances.
- Work within SAP to enter, review, and extract accounting data for reporting and analysis.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to gather supporting documentation and resolve accounting issues efficiently.
- Contribute to process continuity during accounting workflow changes or system-related updates when needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
- Working knowledge of corporate tax concepts, including exposure to corporate tax return support.
- Experience handling sales tax and maintaining compliance-related accounting records.
- Strong understanding of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Proficiency with SAP or similar enterprise accounting software.
- Insurance industry knowledge is strongly preferred.
- Ability to organize multiple priorities and communicate clearly in a collaborative setting.
