Description Are you ready for a bigger stage? You've already earned the Controller title, maybe at a smaller company where you did a bit of everything. You've proven you can own the books. Now you want bigger challenges, more complexity, and a company that can match your ambition.
At Retif Oil & Fuel, you'll step into a larger organization with more entities and higher volume than you've managed before. You'll bring the hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mindset that got you here. In return, we'll give you the scale, mentorship, and exposure to fast-track your career.
Retif Oil & Fuel is one of the largest fuel and lubricant distributors in the southeast. We have proudly served our community since 1965, and we look forward to continued growth. At Retif, we are delivering energy to build communities.
We all work together to grow our annual gallons sold to allow for us to impact our communities by creating new job opportunities. We specialize in delivering energy. If you want to belong to a team that does that well every day, this might be the role for you.
Our customers are in industries like transportation, construction, marine, and retail. If you have experience working with this type of customer – or want that experience – this role may be a great fit.
You will love it here if you value:
- Trust – When we say we’re going to do something, we do it.
- Team – Our players are the most important part of who we are.
- Fun – We find a way to enjoy what we do every day.
- Make an Impact – We positively affect our customers, co-workers, and community.
- Learn and Evolve – We seek the best way, and we adapt.
You’ll love coming to work every day if you get, want, and have the capacity to:
- Own the accounting function end to end. Lead the close, GAAP reporting, controls and hold the team to a high, consistent standard.
- Build for scale. Redesign processes, policies, and controls so finance keeps up as we grow.
- Deliver trusted reporting. Prepare GAAP financial statements and clear monthly reporting packages for leadership.
- Partner with the business. Explain variances and trends to department leaders and help them act on the numbers.
- Manage cash and capital. Oversee cash forecasting, banking relationships, and debt covenant compliance; support financing activity as needed.
- Manage audits and tax. Serve as point person for external auditors and tax advisors.
- Lead and grow the team. Supervise and coach accounting and finance staff.
- Level up our systems. Improve how we use our ERP, automate manual work, and build reporting that scales.
- Stay hands-on when needed. At a growing company, the best leaders still roll up their sleeves.
How you'll grow
- Bigger-company experience. Gain exposure to more complex operations, the experience that sets apart future finance leaders.
- Mentorship from leadership. Regular one-on-ones with CFO focused on your development.
- Room to build. Your ideas for better processes, systems, and reporting will get implemented.
Your first year at a glance In the first 90 days, you'll learn the business and own the close. By month six, you'll have tightened controls and sped up reporting. By year one, you'll be partnering directly with leadership to provide meaningful and actionable financial information.
