Founded in 1973 as a specialty grain trading company, we’ve grown into a multi-location operation powered by a team with decades of experience, fresh ideas, and a shared passion for the specialty market of edible seeds.

For over 50 years, we’ve proudly operated under the same name, and we were recognized as one of the Top 20 Great Places to Work in Fargo-Moorhead in 2024 and 2025, a testament to our people-first culture.

Red River Commodities is a proud part of the Acomo Group and operates as a subsidiary of Acomo N.V., an international organization based in the Netherlands that sources, processes, and distributes natural food ingredients across more than 100 countries. This connection strengthens our global reach while allowing us to maintain our strong local partnerships.

Our facilities are strategically located in the heart of sunflower and grain-growing regions, ensuring quality from farm to shelf.

Our diverse product lines include: SunButter®, a delicious, allergen-friendly sunflower spread; roasted, seasoned, and packaged inshell sunflower seeds; and numerous premium bird food mixes including Pecking Order ®, our backyard chicken treat line.
