You will lead construction for a steady, multi-year program of Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) projects at a major power-generation equipment manufacturer’s industrial campus in New York’s Capital Region. The work takes place inside an active manufacturing facility and includes process and production equipment installations, building and enclosure upgrades, mechanical and electrical upgrades, controls modernization, and equipment recommissioning. Several projects typically run at the same time, so you will be onsite daily in the greater Albany area, working directly with the client’s facility and project teams, our engineers, and our trade subcontractors. You will partner closely with the Program Manager, who owns the overall program with the client. Your key responsibilities · Lead on-site construction for multiple concurrent EPC projects, managing scope, schedule, and budget in partnership with the Project Manager. · Work closely with our internal engineering teams to ensure deliverables align with the client’s scope, schedule, and budget expectations. · Plan, sequence, and coordinate field work in an operating plant, including shutdown and outage windows, tie-ins, and work around live production. · Develop and maintain construction schedules, look-aheads, and progress reporting in line with the Project Execution Plan (PEP). · Support procurement: prepare and review subcontract bid packages, evaluate bids, and coordinate equipment and material deliveries. · Manage subcontractors day to day, including subcontract administration, submittals, RFIs, progress reviews, pay application review, and lien waiver tracking. · Lead the change order process: identify changes early, notify the client, gather supporting data, and estimate cost of materials, labor, and equipment for Program Manager review. · Serve as Project Site Safety Leader (in the absence of a full-time EHS Supervisor). Champion a strong safety culture, lead pre-task planning and job hazard analyses, and coordinate with client EHS and permitting requirements. · Act as a primary day-to-day contact for client facility, operations, and project staff, building trusted relationships that lead to repeat work. · Coordinate with the engineering team during design and construction to resolve field issues and confirm constructability. · Plan and lead startup, commissioning, turnover, and closeout, including punch lists and as-built documentation. · Mentor Construction Managers, Associate Construction Managers, and interns assigned to the program. · Adhere to the policies and standards of our quality management system and Ramboll QA/QC procedures.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. · 8+ years of construction management experience on industrial, manufacturing, power generation, or similarly complex projects, including leading on-site teams. · Experience with EPC or design-build delivery, including procurement support and subcontractor management. · Experience working inside operating industrial facilities, including shutdowns, tie-ins, and coordination with plant operations. · Multi-discipline knowledge across mechanical, process piping, electrical, controls, structural, and civil scopes. · Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications. · Strong skills in construction sequencing and planning, scheduling and durations, safety planning, and means and methods. · Confident communicator who can manage quality, schedule, and budget while building strong client relationships. · Local daily travel to a manufacturing site in the greater Albany, NY area. Preferred · OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification. · PE license, PMP certification, or a construction management credential. · Experience supporting a long-term client program with multiple concurrent projects.
