Integrations Engineer II
Job Type Location Salary Range
Full-Time | On-Site Renton, WA $36.50 - $45.70 per hour
Job Summary
The primary role of the Integrations Engineer II is to design, build, and support the APIs and event-driven services that connect Radiant's transportation management platform with our customers, carriers, partners, and internal applications.
• The Integrations Engineer II is a member of the API & Integrations team. The team builds on a modern cloud platform (Node.js/TypeScript on AWS) that delivers REST APIs, event streaming, and AI-enabled services.
• This is a hands-on, mid-level engineering role. The incumbent owns assigned integrations from technical design through production support, and is a go-to reviewer and mentor for less experienced engineers.
• The Integrations Engineer II works with engineers in the U.S. and Cebu, Philippines, and with partner teams across Technology and Operations.
• The incumbent works free from daily oversight, regularly exercising independent discretion and significant decision making in regard to completing duties.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, the Integrations Engineer II is responsible for:
Design & Build
• Design and build customer- and partner-facing REST APIs, including specifications, validation, versioning, and documentation.
• Develop event-driven services and data pipelines that move and transform data between our transportation management system and connected systems.
• Own the technical design of assigned integrations: write solution designs, weigh trade-offs, and propose improvements to performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Onboard new customers and partners onto integration flows, from data mapping and testing through go-live.
• Assist API clients with their technical needs, including onboarding and setup, troubleshooting, and escalated issues.
• Contribute to AI-enabled services that give AI tools safe, governed access to integration capabilities.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and automation to speed up delivery and remove repetitive setup and support work.
Quality & Release
• Write automated tests and keep the team's CI pipelines healthy.
• Review code and approve changes for promotion to staging, in line with team standards.
• Mentor Integrations Engineer I team members through development, code review, and documentation.
Support & Reliability
• Share ownership of the team's core production services with other engineers, so no service or approval depends on a single person.
• Monitor the team's integrations and lead the triage of production incidents for the services you own: find the root cause, put fixes in place, and document what happened.
• Act as a technical backup to the Engineering Manager for design decisions and release approvals when needed.
• Help modernize legacy integrations by moving them onto the current platform.
Collaboration & Documentation
• Work from business requirements documents (BRDs), and contribute technical requirements and estimates.
• Partner with the teams that own connected platforms to validate new or changed interfaces, report defects, and confirm fixes.
• Keep runbooks and API documentation current so the wider team and the Helpdesk can support integrations.
• Handle customer and partner data securely, in line with company security practices.
• Other duties as may be assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in backend software engineering or systems integration.
• Strong backend development experience in Node.js/TypeScript.
• Experience designing REST APIs, including authentication, versioning, and documentation.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message streaming (e.g., Kafka).
• Experience operating event-streaming pipelines in production, including throughput, lag, and recovery.
• Experience integrating enterprise systems (ERP, TMS, or similar), including data mapping.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with a major cloud platform (AWS preferred), containers, and CI/CD.
• Track record of owning services in production, including monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience reviewing code and mentoring other engineers.
• Strong written communication and the discipline for asynchronous work across time zones (U.S. Pacific ↔ Philippines).
• Proficient in English communication (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience integrating with SAP TM or other enterprise TMS/ERP platforms.
• Experience building data pipelines or change-data-capture solutions.
• Experience with observability tooling (logs, metrics, and tracing).
• Experience building AI/LLM integrations or using AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience with test automation frameworks.
• Exposure to EDI or file-based data exchange.
• Experience in the freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation industry is an asset.
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
Business Skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a team environment.
• Accurate and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership for production systems.
• Able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Team cooperation and respect are required.
Work Schedule
• Full-time schedule of a minimum of 8 hours per day, with the flexibility to complete all required job duties and responsibilities.
• Regular overlap with team members in the Philippines, and occasional after-hours availability for production incidents.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods; use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift and/or move up to 15–25 pounds (e.g., files, supplies, or equipment). Specific vision abilities require close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
