ABOUT QUILTER
At Quilter, we are helping electrical engineers save time and accomplish more by automating the tedious and time-consuming task of designing printed circuit boards (PCBs). Our small team is composed of experts in electrical engineering, electromagnetic simulation, ML/AI, and high-performance computing (HPC). We are inventing and leveraging novel techniques to solve the decades-old problem of automating circuit board design where today hundreds of billions of dollars are spent. We have raised $25 million in Series B funding from some of the very best and are charging full-speed toward our goal.
No matter where we come from, we're united by a common vision for the future and a core set of values we think will get us there:
- Curiosity
- Conviction
- Rigor
We’re looking for a Senior or Staff Platform Engineer to lead customer-facing deployments and integrations of Quilter in enterprise environments.
Quilter uses AI to automate printed circuit board placement and routing. Our Platform team builds the infrastructure that runs these compute-intensive workloads and supports our cloud service and customer-managed deployments. You’ll own systems from design through operation and help shape a growing team’s technical direction.
You’ll work directly with customer engineering and IT teams and our go-to-market team, carrying deployments from discovery through validation and handoff. Customer conversations, identity integration, and hands-on troubleshooting are central to the role. You’ll also build automation and diagnostic tools with the engineers who own our shared deployment platform, so each engagement improves how we serve the next customer.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead customer deployment planning. Understand the customer’s environment, goals, and constraints; identify dependencies; agree on success criteria; and create a clear path to a working deployment.
- Deploy and integrate Quilter. Work with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, identity providers, and access controls across customer-managed and dedicated environments.
- Own enterprise identity integrations. Configure and debug OpenID Connect (OIDC) SSO with customer IT teams, including application registration, login flows, claims, and access mapping. Maintain integrations through credential and policy changes, and turn repeated fixes into setup guides and automated validation.
- Own troubleshooting through resolution. Investigate failures across application and infrastructure boundaries, work effectively with limited access, and keep customers and internal teams informed about findings and next steps.
- Make installations and upgrades repeatable. Partner with Platform engineers on deployment automation, preflight checks, configuration validation, upgrade and rollback procedures, and useful diagnostics.
- Help customers integrate Quilter into their workflows. Build practical scripts and integrations around supported interfaces, coordinate with product and engineering teams, and recognize patterns that should become shared capabilities.
- Make customer handoffs clear. Validate the deployment and identity integration, teach customer teams how to use and support their environment, and document the operating responsibilities and escalation paths shared between Quilter and the customer.
- Connect customer needs to engineering priorities. Explain tradeoffs, distinguish confirmed capabilities from proposed work, manage scope, and coordinate commitments with engineering and go-to-market partners.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience delivering and supporting production software in cloud or customer-managed environments, with ownership through deployment and operation.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with external customers or partners on technical implementation, integration, or troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience implementing and debugging OIDC-based SSO with enterprise identity providers such as Microsoft Entra ID or Okta. You understand OAuth 2.0 fundamentals, tokens, claims, and application access, and can resolve integration issues with customer IT.
- Practical Kubernetes and container fluency: you can inspect and debug workloads, understand deployment configuration, and investigate failures involving networking, storage, or permissions.
- Solid cloud infrastructure fundamentals, including compute, networking, IAM, and storage. AWS experience is particularly useful; experience in other clouds transfers well.
- Experience using infrastructure as code and building maintainable automation. You can read application code, follow logs and traces, and write tools or integrations in a language such as Python or Go.
- Clear verbal and written communication across technical audiences. You ask useful discovery questions, explain uncertainty, teach effectively, and leave people with a concrete action plan.
- Strong ownership and judgment: you follow through, escalate when needed, make sensible scope tradeoffs, and work with teammates to turn one-off fixes into lasting improvements.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience building reusable installers, upgrade checks, or diagnostic tooling for customer-managed deployments.
- Experience with Helm, Terraform, and deployments across AWS, Azure, or customer-managed Kubernetes.
- Experience with on-premises, restricted-network, offline, hybrid, or bring-your-own-cloud deployments.
- Familiarity with observability and support tooling for environments where direct production access is limited.
- Experience supporting security-sensitive enterprise customers or working with their IT and security review processes.
- Familiarity with compute-intensive workloads, GPUs, or engineering software.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Customers reach a validated deployment, can sign in through their identity provider with the intended access, and have clear operating responsibilities and support paths. Installations and upgrades become easier to repeat, and recurring deployment and identity issues are resolved through shared tooling and product improvements.
Please note: We are an equal opportunity employer. At this time, we are focused on hiring primarily within the US, with occasional exception to accommodate exceptional talent.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Interesting and challenging work
- Competitive salary and equity benefits
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Regular team events and offsites (~4x / year)
- Unlimited paid time off
- Paid parental leave
