Original job description

High School Intervention Specialist Performance Academies Position Overview Performance Academies is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and student-centered High School Intervention Specialist to join our team. We are looking for an individual who believes every student has the ability to grow, succeed, and reach their full potential when provided with the right support, encouragement, and opportunities. Our inclusion-based model emphasizes collaboration between intervention specialists, general education teachers, related service providers, and other student services team members to ensure students with disabilities have access to meaningful learning experiences and the support they need to succeed. The ideal candidate is a team-minded professional who builds positive relationships, embraces collaboration, and is committed to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specially designed instruction and individualized academic support to high school students with disabilities.
Collaborate with general education teachers to implement effective inclusion strategies and classroom accommodations.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements.
Support students in accessing grade-level curriculum while building independence, confidence, and essential academic skills.
Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instructional strategies based on student needs.
Communicate effectively with families, teachers, administrators, and related service providers.
Assist with the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and behavior support strategies as appropriate.
Collaborate and actively participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, progress reporting, and collaborative planning.
Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, supported, and capable of success.
Contribute to a collaborative school culture focused on student growth, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required for the licensed salary level:

Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license appropriate for the assignment.

Alternative qualification for the non-licensed salary level:

Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid Ohio substitute teaching license.

Preferred qualities:

Strong communication and collaboration skills.
A passion for working with high school students and supporting diverse learning needs.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
A growth mindset and willingness to learn, reflect, and adapt.
Strong organization, problem-solving, and classroom management skills.
Commitment to inclusion, student advocacy, and helping every student reach their full potential.

Work Schedule Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM–4:30 PM

Compensation

$52,000 starting base salary for candidates holding a valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license.
$42,000 starting base salary for candidates with an undergraduate degree and a valid Ohio substitute teaching license.

The Ideal Candidate We are looking for more than someone to provide academic support. We want an educator who believes in students, values teamwork, celebrates progress, and is willing to go the extra mile to help students succeed. If you are passionate about inclusive education, believe collaboration makes a difference, and want to be part of a team that is committed to helping students reach their full potential, we encourage you to apply! Join Performance Academies and help make a difference in the lives of our students every day. This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current job, management reserves the right to revise the job or to require that other or different tasks be performed as assigned.
