Principal Software Engineer - AI-Accelerated Product Development - Responsible for leading complex technical initiatives and driving architectural decisions within the engineering organization. Set technical direction, mentor engineers, and ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and high-quality software solutions that align with organizational goals. Lead the design, development, and implementation of highly complex, large-scale distributed software systems and features, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance. Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions, evaluating emerging technologies and recommending cloud-native, microservices-based solutions that align with long-term product and business objectives. Architect and integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions into production-grade, multi-tenant software systems, including applied machine learning and computer vision, and foundation-model integration (such as Amazon Bedrock). Design and implement microservices-based, event-driven, and service-oriented architectures that improve throughput, reduce operational cost, and increase system resilience. Implement cloud-native architectures on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Work with data and storage technologies, including SQL and Snowflake, relational and NoSQL databases, and data pipelines and streaming for large-scale, high-volume processing. Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code, with automated build, test, and deployment, and monitoring, logging, and observability tooling for production reliability. Work with multiple programming languages and frameworks and software architecture patterns, including Python and FastAPI for backend and API development and React and modern JavaScript / TypeScript for front-end delivery. Work with data and storage technologies, including SQL and Snowflake, relational and NoSQL databases, and data pipelines and streaming for large-scale, high-volume processing. Utilize CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code, and of monitoring, logging, and observability tooling for production reliability. Translate complex and ambiguous business problems into scalable, reliable, and secure technical solutions. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, guiding best practices, code quality, and architectural patterns across the software development lifecycle. Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable development plans. Conduct in-depth code reviews, contribute hands-on to critical codebases, and serve as a subject-matter expert for the most challenging technical problems. Establish engineering standards for quality, observability, and operational excellence, and champion continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies. Own and continually improve product delivery throughput, system stability, and lifecycle processes in partnership with product leadership. 40 hours per week, $215,000/year.
