At Mongoose, we believe every conversation matters.
We’re on a mission to change lives by making conversation intelligence accessible to all in higher education. Our purpose? To move people forward. Whether it’s helping a student navigate their first semester, connecting alumni with meaningful opportunities, or ensuring parents feel informed and supported - our AI-enabled platform drives compliant, empathetic, and impactful conversations that build trust and foster success campus-wide.
We know that conversations aren’t just a feature - they’re the foundation of connection. That’s why we focus on delivering insights, relevance, empathy, scale, and trust in everything we do. At Mongoose, we’re transforming communication in higher ed because we believe reputation is a mutual responsibility, and the right insights fuel measurable outcomes.
Join us and be part of a team that’s making a real difference in education - one conversation at a time.
As an Account Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind making sure our clients don’t just renew their contracts - they expand their use of Mongoose solutions and can’t imagine life without us. You’ll own the renewal process and lead all expansion efforts, including upsells and cross-sells, by diving deep into client relationships, uncovering their needs, and helping them achieve their goals with our products. Success in this role will be measured by increasing client retention rates, achieving both your annual renewal , and expansion quotas through adoption and growth of our Conversation Intelligence Platform. If you love building expansion pipelines through strategic account planning and referential selling and have a demonstrated history of exceeding quota, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
- Sell and Renew with Confidence: Consistently meet or exceed assigned renewal and expansion quotas to drive revenue growth, while developing informed, strategic retention and growth plans in partnership with your Customer Success Manager. Lead renewals with confidence so clients feel valued, supported, and excited to sign on for another year (or more), and proactively anticipate and address risks well before renewal time - because surprises are for birthdays, not contracts.
- Drive Growth Like a Pro: Build pipeline through focused weekly outbound activities, own upsell and cross-sell opportunities by showing clients how Mongoose can solve even more of their challenges, and expand our footprint within schools by introducing our solutions to new departments and teams that didn’t know they needed us - until you showed them.
- Be the Client’s MVP: Build rock-solid relationships through strategic outreach and Mongoose Quarterly Reviews (MQRs) that ensure clients feel heard, supported, and ready to grow with us. Use a deep understanding of client goals and challenges to position Mongoose as an indispensable partner, and work in true partnership with a dedicated Client Success Manager - driving commercial strategy (renewals, upsells, expansions) while your CSM partner drives adoption, value realization, and day-to-day success. Together, you’re accountable for delivering outcomes that maximize satisfaction and growth.
- Collaborate & Innovate: Partner with Marketing to share new offerings, success stories, and updates with clients; collaborate with Leadership to identify risks and develop creative solutions to challenges or closing opportunities; and bring the voice of the customer to Product by sharing insights and ideas that help us build even better solutions.
- Show Up, Stand Out: Represent Mongoose at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, leaving a lasting impression on clients and prospects. Be the face of Mongoose for your accounts, turning relationships into partnerships and partnerships into growth, including onsite visits and travel as needed.
- Make Data Your Superpower: Track client health metrics to guide conversations and uncover opportunities, maintain an accurate and squeaky-clean CRM (hello, HubSpot!) with all renewals, upsells, and interactions, and share insights and updates internally to ensure alignment and fuel smarter strategies.
What You'll Bring to the Table
- Sales Savvy with Heart: Proven success carrying a renewal and/or expansion quota in a B2B SaaS environment with a consistent track record of exceeding targets. You’ve demonstrated the ability to build healthy pipelines, convert with strong win rates, and successfully drive renewals while growing accounts through upsells and cross-sells. You know how to sell without feeling “salesy,” positioning solutions in ways that feel natural, helpful, and downright irresistible.
- A Relationship Builder Extraordinaire: You’re a natural at connecting with people and building trust, making clients feel understood and supported. Your exceptional communication skills ensure even complex ideas are easy to understand and act on.
- Proactive Problem-Solver: You don’t wait for problems to knock - you see them coming and have solutions ready before anyone else notices. As a strong, strategic thinker, you’re always looking for ways to improve processes and drive better outcomes.
- Data-Informed Decision Maker: You use data as a secret weapon - leveraging insights to uncover opportunities, address challenges, and shape your approach. You excel at translating data into actionable insights that empower clients to make informed business decisions, and you bring experience with CRM systems (bonus points for HubSpot expertise!).
- Collaboration at the Core: You thrive in a team-oriented environment, aligning with Marketing, Product, and Client Success to deliver exceptional results. You excel in a partnership model, working hand-in-hand with a dedicated CSM to balance commercial ownership (renewals, upsells, expansions) with adoption and value delivery, ensuring clients see measurable success. Your positive, can-do attitude makes you a joy to work with for both colleagues and clients.
- Higher Ed Knowledge (a Plus, Not a Must): Experience in the higher ed space is great, but it’s not a deal-breaker. What matters most is your ability to learn fast, adapt quickly, and understand what makes this industry tick.
