Summary We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Facility Caretaker to join our team at Alcona Elementary. This full-time position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for supporting the educational community.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
- Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and activities as required.
- Ensure that all safety and health regulations are followed, including proper handling of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and request replenishments as necessary.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure that the facility meets the needs of students and the educational program.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, including spills, accidents, and emergencies.
- Support the overall mission of Alcona Elementary by fostering a positive, safe, and clean environment conducive to learning.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in custodial work, or a related field is an advantage.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for special events or emergencies.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
