JOB REQUIREMENTS: We are looking to hire a 2nd shift machine operator who is interested in machining frame rails for the fire & rescue and agriculture industries. If you are self-motivated, have mechanical skills, outstanding attendance and are at least 18 years old, we may have the job for you. Job duties include operating an overhead crane to move the up to 40 ft long rails, operating a CNC vertical mill, using simple measurement tools and using hand tools such as drills and grinders. Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures. Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequences. Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules, using computer network links. Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Check to ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation. Set up and operate computer-controlled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic workpieces. Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration, and adjust machines to compensate for problems. Remove and replace dull cutting tools. Lift workpieces to machines manually or with hoists or cranes. Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors or to obtain approval to continue production.
