VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate and dedicated experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team, full time.
Working as a Veterinary Laboratory Assistant/Pharmacy Assistant, you’ll play a vital behind-the-scenes role in delivering exceptional patient care. Every diagnosis starts with accurate lab work, and you’ll help make it possible by collecting, processing, and running samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring results are precise and timely so our doctors can make confident treatment decisions. In your pharmacy responsibilities, you’ll support the safe and efficient preparation, dispensing, and organization of medications, maintain inventory and help ensure patients receive the treatments they need without delay. Your attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and dedication to quality will directly impact patient outcomes and the overall experience of our patients, clients, and medical team.

Compensation: $19.00 - $21.00 / hour dependent on experience, and skill set.
Potential Schedule: Full time, weekend rotation required.

Laboratory Responsibilities
- Operate in-house laboratory analyzers and equipment (Heska and Idexx)
- Prepare, process, and package samples for external shipment
- Track and manage laboratory results
- Perform routine quality control testing
- Complete laboratory equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintain laboratory supply inventory and prepare orders as needed
- Restock supplies and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Assist with miscellaneous laboratory and hospital support duties
Pharmacy Responsibilities
- Prepare, label, and dispense medications under the direction of veterinarians and credentialed technicians
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records
- Ensure pharmacy areas remain organized, clean, and compliant with hospital standards
- Assist with prescription preparation and medication requests in a timely and accurate manner
- Unpack, organize, and shelve medication and hospital inventory deliveries
Patient Care & Hospital Support
- Support patient care workflows by ensuring laboratory and pharmacy services are accurate, efficient, and timely
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and well-stocked hospital environment
