Since 1886, Lewis has built some of the Northwest’s most important places: hospitals, research labs, schools, data centers, and the office towers that shape our skylines. We’re 100% employee-owned, so every one of us has a stake in the company’s success and a voice in where it goes next.
Speaking of what's next: Our VDC Team is hiring! At Lewis, the VDC team builds projects virtually first, helping our teams and partners build with confidence. We’re looking for a VDC Coordinator who’d rather find the conflict in Navisworks than in the ceiling and is comfortable running the meeting that resolves it. If that sounds like you, come build with us.
About the Role
You’ll be the lead Virtual Design & Construction resource on a project, guiding BIM coordination from preconstruction through turnover. You’ll set the coordination strategy, run MEPF coordination, and work closely with the project manager, superintendent, project engineers, trade partners, and designers. You’ll report to a Sr. VDC Coordinator who sets standards, supports you, and steps in on tough calls. Day to day, though, you’ll own the coordination effort on your project.
Your success shows up in a well-coordinated model, a coordination schedule the team can rely on, less rework, and fewer surprises in the field.
What You'll Do
- Lead BIM coordination. Aggregate models, run clash detection, track issues, and drive them to sign-off. Run coordination meetings that keep trade partners and designers moving toward solutions.
- Shape the plan. Write and maintain the project’s BIM Execution Plan with your Sr. VDC Coordinator, including level-of-detail requirements, coordination schedules, and trade partner modeling expectations.
- Connect the model to the field. Produce layout data, walk the jobsite regularly to check installed work against the model, and flag sequencing, constructability, and long-lead risks early.
- Keep the model honest. Reconcile approved submittals, RFIs, and change orders into the model so it always reflects the project as it’s actually being built.
- Build the as-built record. Keep as-built models current throughout construction rather than at the end, and prepare closeout deliverables and asset data for owner platforms like Autodesk Tandem.
- Bring technology to the jobsite. Help with laser scanning, 360° photos, and drone capture, and help field teams get the most out of VDC tools.
- Guide others. Give direction and feedback to VDC project engineers on your project.
What You'll Bring
- About 3 years in the construction industry, with at least 2 in a BIM or VDC coordination role
- Working knowledge of MEP systems coordination, construction sequencing, and construction documents
- Hands-on experience with Revit, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud/Forma, Bluebeam Revu, and Procore
- The ability to run a productive meeting with trade partners and designers, and to write clearly
- Comfort working on active construction sites
- A degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience. We value what you know and can do, however you learned it.
Great to Have, Not Required
- General contractor experience or direct jobsite experience
- Experience with Revizto, ReCap, FARO Scene or Leica Cyclone, Autodesk Point Layout, Assemble or Forma Takeoff, Synchro or Fuzor, or Civil 3D
- An FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (or interest in earning one)
Don’t check every box? If this work excites you and you have most of what we’ve described, apply anyway. We want to hear from you.
How and Where You'll Work
Once projects start, you'll spend most of your time on active project sites, so you’ll need a reliable way to get between them. Jobsite work involves walking, standing, climbing ladders, and carrying gear up to 25 pounds.
Reality capture sometimes means working at heights, in tight spaces, or outdoors in Northwest weather. We provide the PPE.
Most work happens during standard hours, with occasional evenings or weekends when a project or team event calls for it.
We provide reasonable accommodations, so if you have questions about any of this, please ask.
Growing at Lewis
Advancement here is about demonstrated readiness, not years served. VDC Coordinators move toward the Sr. VDC Coordinator role by leading coordination independently on complex projects, mentoring others, and contributing to department standards and tools beyond their own project. You can count on regular opportunities to work with your manager to build and progress on your career goals.
