We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Load Lead in Minneapolis MN to join the fleet operations team within our production facility. In this fast-paced role, you will oversee the accurate and timely loading of newspaper carts, news and comic pallets, and other freight for distribution. The Load Lead is responsible for coordinating daily loading activities, driving team productivity, ensuring shipment accuracy, and maintaining efficient workflow operations to support on-time delivery commitments. This position plays a key role in fostering a safe, organized, and high-performing work environment while ensuring operational excellence throughout the loading process.
Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret and execute shipping manifests from Star Tribune production operations and other freight distribution channels to ensure timely and efficient loading and shipment of products.
- Partner with Dispatch, Post-Production, and departmental leadership teams to proactively identify and resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, and manifest inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with drivers and transportation partners to coordinate the safe, accurate, and efficient loading of products for distribution.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment while adhering to all company policies and operational procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment preferred.
- Ability to work a 3rd shift schedule, including overnights, weekends, and holiday shifts.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials weighing 25 pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Strong mathematical aptitude with the ability to accurately verify counts, quantities, and shipping information.
- Effective reading and comprehension skills with the ability to interpret shipping manifests, work instructions, and operational documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced production and distribution environment.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, 0-1, TM, CPT, OPT, etc.). We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a union position with a starting pay rate of $23.15 per hour.
Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
