Objectives
The primary purpose of the Transit Specialist is to be the first contact with clients by scheduling rides, collecting client data, answering questions, directing clients to the appropriate department, and completing dispatching duties. This position reports to the Transit Director.
Essential Functions
- Answer phones from public regarding transportation needs and services.
- Make and confirm reservations for transportation.
- Input data in Computer Aided Dispatch software to schedule trips and answer questions.
- Politely explain scheduling parameters and if needed deny trips that cannot be accommodated.
- Ask clarifying questions to confirm correct schedule.
- Answer driver concerns on the radio. Make needed changes to schedule per driver request.
- Process credit card charges appropriately.
- Manage trip loads and timing by considering driver location and mobility issues.
- Direct questions to Driver Supervisor or other office personnel.
- Possess good data entry and multi-tasking skills.
- Must be able to communicate with client while navigating dispatching software to schedule services.
- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Possess excellent multi-line phone skills.
- Ability to use multiple screen computer system and navigate multiple tabs and resources within computer system.
