Bedford County roofing and construction company has immediate openings for roofers, laborers and construction workers. Experience is preferred. Duties will include but are not limited to: Roofers: Set up scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs. Align roofing materials with edges of roofs. Clean and maintain equipment. Cement or nail flashing strips of metal or shingle over joints to make them watertight. Install, repair, or replace single-ply roofing systems, using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric, or other asphaltic compositions. Cut felt, shingles, or strips of flashing to fit angles formed by walls, vents, or intersecting roof surfaces. Install vapor barriers or layers of insulation on flat roofs. Cut roofing paper to size using knives; and nail or staple roofing paper to roofs in overlapping strips to form bases for other materials. Cover exposed nailheads with roofing cement or caulking to prevent water leakage or rust. Asbestos Abatement license a plus. Laborers/ Construction Workers: Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities. Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones. Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials. Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes. Position, join, align, or seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections or pipes. Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed. Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications. Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures. Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts. Asbestos Abatement license a plus. These positions will require varying hours, shifts and possible travel out of the area. Hours vary depending on season and work available.
