Description
Description Kitsap Humane Society (KHS), a highly progressive open-admission animal welfare organization located in Silverdale, Washington is looking to welcome a skilled FT or PT Licensed Veterinary Technician onto our team. Here at KHS we believe that LVTs should be empowered to practice to their full ability and are looking for the right fit to help us elevate our work and serve more families in need. In addition to practicing shelter medicine and surgery, we are excited to have opened our low-income community clinic in 2024. We partner with veterinary clinics across the region who have identified families in crisis in order to provide urgently needed low cost medical and surgical care in our new, 4,600sf veterinary hospital. We work with people where they are at, avoiding economic euthanasia and helping families creatively with payment plans, low cost services and additional funding to ensure their pets get the care they need. We are looking for a conscientious, progressive, team-oriented technician to provide support for our veterinarians in order to expand our capacity to provide outstanding medical and surgical care for the animals under our care.
Job Purpose and Summary KHS’s LVT will work in collaboration with the Veterinary Operations Manager, veterinarians, staff and volunteers to provide high quality shelter medicine, surgery, treatment and care for KHS shelter animals and community clinic patients and clients. Technician responsibilities will include all aspects of surgery and recovery, examinations of patients, caregiver education, medical treatments, laboratory work and radiography. Our LVT must be efficient at time management and able to thrive in a high volume, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
