Ken Forging Inc Jefferson, OH Shear Operator Duties: - Do a cleanup/inspection around assigned shear(s) or saw(s). - Pick up banding/debris. - Check bar length. - Set-up Shears and Saws. Go over set up, making sure nothing has come loose. (Make adjustments if needed), verify counters are working and are at the correct count. - Be sure all boxes, racks, end cuts hoppers are tagged appropriately with the correct weights, steel tags are numbered and in order and clean out tubs. - Shear or saw steel material. - Periodically check shear and saw counter to be at correct count and length. - Weigh, Tag, Issue, Record Entry for all sheared material. - Operate tow motor and crane to move material from delivery trucks, inventory, shears, saw, hammer and to different areas of the Forge Department. - Inspect incoming and processing steel. - Unload steel truck and process needed paperwork. - Must be able to multi task. Employee is typically cutting different bundles of steel on multiple shears and saws for multiple hammers at the same time. - Employees should have the ability to drive stick shift to utilize the flatbed truck with air brakes to transfer steel from different warehouses. - May be asked to weld. (Stub Welding and Stick Welding) Skills: - Skilled in using shears, saws, hand tools, cranes, tow motors, flatbed truck sticks shift and other machinery safely within a manufacturing setting. - Basic ability to read, write and general math skills while using measuring devices such as measuring tape, gages, micrometers and calipers. Strong computer skills. - Familiarity with welding. - Reliable and able to multi-task. - Prior manufacturing experience and computer skills preferred.
