GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Internship provides students with meaningful, hands-on experience supporting a mission-driven public charter school organization. Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the intern will gain exposure to a broad range of Human Resources functions while developing professional skills applicable to careers in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, and related fields. The Human Resources Intern will assist with strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations across areas such as recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, employee relations, compliance, strategic planning, and organizational effectiveness. The intern will collaborate with school leaders and members of the Support Office Team and may have opportunities to contribute to projects that enhance the employee experience and strengthen organizational practices across Journey Community Schools. The internship may also provide cross-functional learning opportunities with the Finance and Operations team. Depending on organizational needs and the intern’s interests, these experiences may include exposure to payroll administration, personnel transactions, benefits administration, budgeting, and other operational processes. The Human Resources Intern reports directly to the Director of Human Resources. This internship is structured as a September through August learning experience. Interns are encouraged to commit to the full internship term to gain a comprehensive understanding of the annual Human Resources cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, employee relations, compliance, payroll coordination, and strategic planning. Internship schedules will be developed collaboratively with the intern and, when applicable, the student’s college or university to accommodate academic requirements while meeting organizational needs.
