Litigation Associate | Birmingham, AL
A respected Birmingham law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to build a long-term career in commercial and business litigation while working closely with experienced attorneys in a collaborative environment.
The firm's practice focuses heavily on commercial and business disputes, representing businesses, individuals and organizations in a wide variety of complex matters.
The ideal candidate will have existing litigation experience and be comfortable with the fundamentals of working up a case, including discovery, legal research, drafting, case strategy and litigation preparation. The attorney will work under the supervision of senior attorneys while taking increasing ownership of their matters.
Responsibilities
Assist with commercial, business and civil litigation matters
Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions and legal memoranda
Participate in discovery, including document review, written discovery and discovery strategy
Assist with depositions, hearings, mediations and trial preparation
Analyze factual and legal issues and help develop case strategy
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel and other parties as appropriate
Assist senior attorneys with all phases of litigation
Manage assigned projects and deadlines effectively
Develop increasing responsibility for assigned matters
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active Alabama Bar admission
Prior litigation experience
Strong legal research and writing skills
Excellent attention to detail and organization
Strong communication and analytical abilities
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with senior attorneys
