Qualifications
Applicants must be 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and have no criminal record. Applicants must be able to obtain a Water Certification within 12 months. Person shall serve a twelve (12) month probationary period in on-the-job training.
General Summary: The Groundwater Plant Operator must be able to perform skilled technical and manual work in the daily operation of the City’s water plants and related facilities. Must be able to prepare and maintain required records and reports, and to perform related work as required. Must be familiar with computers, chemistry, general math and report writing. Work includes the daily operation of water plants, wells, pumps, water lines, fire hydrants and related system components, and the maintenance of required records and logs. May be subject to 24-hour call. Operator will work some nights, weekends, and holidays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Include the following:
Calibrate test instruments All daily inspections of water wells All daily water quality testing Daily and monthly reports Scheduled maintenance of pumps, motors, and chemical feed equipment Fire Hydrant maintenance Flushing of water lines Backflow testing
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a valid GA drivers license, have a class 3 water operator license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
EDUCATION:
High School Education or it’s equivalency
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be in good physical condition. Most work done standing, walking, or riding. Must work around heavy traffic. Frequent heavy lifting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is done outside in all weather conditions. High noise level from equipment.
