Variety Meats Scale Operator Position Summary The Variety Meats Scale Operator is responsible for accurately weighing, labeling, scanning, and documenting variety meat products to ensure proper product identification, traceability, inventory accuracy, and compliance with company procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Beginning-of-Shift Responsibilities
- Pick up the assigned scanner, barcode labels, and required paperwork at the beginning of each shift.
- Obtain blank white label rolls and preprinted Egyptian labels from the designated area in the Kill Office.
- Verify that the scale displays the correct date before beginning operations.
- Verify that all labels have the correct date and that the month on Egyptian labels is accurate.
- Product Processing and Documentation
- Record the first serial number of each product on the appropriate paperwork.
- Verify product weights against the information printed on the box labels.
- Ensure all product labels are accurate, legible, and properly applied.
- Scan product trays and verify they are assigned to the correct designated location.
- Maintain accurate records to ensure proper product traceability.
- Product Handling
- Add dry ice to boxes as needed, following established company procedures.
- Ensure products are properly labeled, weighed, and prepared for their designated destination.
- End-of-Shift Responsibilities
- Turn in all recorded serial numbers and completed paperwork at the end of each shift.
- Ensure all required documentation is accurate and accounted for.
- Return assigned equipment and supplies to their designated locations.

- Follow all company policies, food safety, and product traceability procedures.
- Maintain accountability for scanners, labels, forms, and other assigned equipment.
- Report discrepancies with product weights, labels, dates, or scanning information to the appropriate supervisor.
- Complete all assigned responsibilities in a timely and consistent manner.
