Project Manager - Roofing
1099 Independent Contractor | Commission-Based | No Roofing Experience Required
Interstate Roofing is looking for motivated people to join our team as Project Managers. We are especially interested in connecting with Veterans who are looking for an opportunity where leadership, discipline, accountability, and the ability to work independently are valued.
You do not need roofing or construction experience to be successful in this role. We can teach you the roofing side of the business.
What we are looking for are people who know how to communicate, solve problems, follow through, work toward a goal, and take ownership of their results. Many of the skills developed through military service translate extremely well into this position.
What You'll Do
As a Project Manager, you will work directly with homeowners and manage roofing projects from the initial conversation through completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Meeting with homeowners and building relationships in the community
- Inspecting roofs for storm damage, age, and wear
- Documenting inspections with photos and available technology
- Helping homeowners understand their roofing options
- Assisting customers through the insurance claims process when applicable
- Preparing estimates for insurance, retail, and commercial projects
- Coordinating with customers, crews, and our internal team
- Managing projects from the initial inspection through completion
- Developing new business through networking, referrals, prospecting, and relationship building
- Building and managing your own customer pipeline
Why Military Experience Translates Well
This position requires much more than knowing how to sell a roof.
Successful Project Managers need to be able to communicate with different types of people, stay organized, solve problems when plans change, manage multiple priorities, follow a process, and take responsibility for getting the job done.
If you have led people, coordinated operations, managed equipment or resources, worked in logistics, trained others, handled changing priorities, or simply learned how to accomplish a mission without someone standing over your shoulder, you already have experience that can translate into this role.
We will teach you the roofing industry and our processes. You bring the work ethic and willingness to learn.
What the Opportunity Looks Like
This is a 1099 independent contractor position with commission-based compensation. It is not a salaried or hourly W-2 position.
Having access to a vehicle is strongly preferred, as your jobs may be in multiple locations (but that will be up to you)
We want to be upfront about that because this opportunity is not going to be the right fit for everyone.
There is no guaranteed salary or hourly wage. Your income is based on the business you produce and the projects you manage.
In return, you have a significant amount of independence in how you build your business and manage your schedule. You have the opportunity to develop your own customer base, professional network, referral relationships, and book of business while working with the resources and support of an established roofing company.
You are responsible for your own taxes, benefits, and other obligations associated with being an independent contractor.
Training and Support
No roofing experience is required.
We provide training and ongoing support to help you learn:
- Roof inspections and storm damage identification
- Roofing systems and materials
- Working with homeowners
- The insurance restoration process
- Estimating and project coordination
- Sales and business development
- Managing a project from inspection through completion
We do not expect someone coming from another industry or transitioning out of the military to already know roofing.
Who We're Looking For
This opportunity may be a good fit if you:
- Are self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- Take ownership of your responsibilities
- Communicate well with customers and teammates
- Can manage multiple priorities
- Are willing to learn a new industry
- Are comfortable meeting and talking with new people
- Can handle rejection and keep moving forward
- Want your earning potential to be tied to your performance
- Value independence and flexibility
- Want an opportunity to build something for yourself
Military experience is welcomed, but Veterans from any MOS, rating, AFSC, branch, or occupational background are encouraged to apply. You do not need to have served in construction, engineering, logistics, or a similar field.
About Interstate Roofing
Interstate Roofing is an established roofing company serving residential and commercial customers. Our Project Managers work with homeowners and businesses while being supported by an experienced team that can help them learn the industry and successfully manage their projects.
For Veterans transitioning into civilian employment, we understand that your military job title may not tell the full story of what you are capable of doing. We are interested in the skills, leadership, experience, and work ethic behind that title.
If you are looking for a traditional guaranteed salary or hourly position, this probably will not be the right opportunity for you.
If you are looking for independence, performance-based earning potential, hands-on training, and the opportunity to build your own book of business within an established company, we would like to talk with you.
