Required Skills & Experience
- 10-12+ years of experience rooted in Maintenance and Reliability Engineering, with progressive responsibility supporting enterprise maintenance, asset-management, and reliability technology environments.
- Strong experience within asset-intensive industries, preferably mining, utilities, oil & gas, chemicals, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or similar operational environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Must have experience working within a true IT, MIS, or technology organization, not solely within a Maintenance or Engineering department, with the ability to bridge technology and operational requirements.
- Experience providing senior-level technology leadership for Maintenance and Reliability, including influencing technical direction, system strategy, priorities, and adoption. This is an influence-based leadership role and does not require direct people management.
- Strong experience designing, implementing, enhancing, or optimizing maintenance and reliability technology environments used by Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, and Operations teams.
- Advanced, hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Asset Management / SAP EAM, including: Equipment master data, Functional locations, Maintenance notifications and work orders, Task lists, Maintenance plans and strategies, Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Strong experience with SAP Asset Performance Management (APM) or comparable asset-performance platforms, including asset health, condition monitoring, risk analysis, reliability strategies, and predictive maintenance.
- Advanced understanding of reliability engineering methodologies, including: Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), FMEA / FMECA, Root Cause Analysis / Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCA / RCFA), Asset criticality analysis, Preventive Maintenance optimization, Predictive Maintenance, Condition-Based Maintenance
- Strong understanding of maintenance strategy development and optimization, including preventive, predictive, condition-based, corrective, and risk-based maintenance and how these strategies translate into enterprise systems and operational workflows.
- Experience using reliability analytics, automation, or AI to analyze maintenance history, work orders, equipment condition, failure patterns, asset performance, and operational data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Understanding of AI-enabled predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, failure prediction, asset-health monitoring, and intelligent maintenance recommendations in an industrial environment.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of industrial assets and maintenance practices involving equipment such as: Pumps and motors, Gearboxes, Conveyors, Crushers and mills, Hydraulic systems, Rotating equipment, Heavy/mobile equipment
- Demonstrated ability to use technology and data to improve reliability, with a focus on reducing unplanned downtime, increasing equipment availability, extending asset life, eliminating recurring failures, and improving maintenance effectiveness.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills with experience partnering across IT/MIS, Maintenance, Reliability, Operations, Engineering, OT, Data & Analytics, vendors, OEMs, and business leadership.
- Must be located in Arizona or willing to relocate to Arizona. This position is intended to work closely with operational and technology stakeholders, so relocation is required for candidates currently residing out of state.
Job Description
Location: Arizona, local presence required. Candidates outside Arizona must be willing to relocate. *Relo fee not provided
This senior-level position will sit within the IT organization and serve as the technology bridge between IT and Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, and Operations teams supporting operational sites. The ideal candidate will bring a strong career foundation in maintenance and reliability engineering and industrial equipment, combined with deep knowledge of enterprise maintenance technology such as SAP S/4HANA Asset Management/EAM and SAP APM. Day to day, this person will partner with reliability engineers, maintenance leaders, and operational-site teams to understand equipment and maintenance challenges, evaluate how those processes are currently supported through technology, and identify opportunities to improve them through IT-initiated projects, automation, AI, predictive analytics, and asset-health solutions. This individual will also help lead and manage a cross-functional project team of approximately 3-5 resources, including Business Systems Analysts (BSAs), Project Managers, Engineers, and other IT stakeholders, providing technical direction, coordinating priorities, and helping drive projects from requirements and solution design through implementation and adoption. Rather than owning day-to-day maintenance execution, they will use their hands-on understanding of equipment and reliability practices to design and build technology solutions, enhance SAP/EAM processes, automate manual workflows, improve maintenance and asset data, and introduce capabilities such as predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and failure prediction. Ultimately, this role will help operational sites move toward a more proactive, data-driven maintenance environment that reduces unplanned downtime, improves equipment availability, extends asset life, and enables smarter maintenance decisions.
