Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Container Image Developer for a top financial services client. This individual will join a development team responsible for creating, configuring, securing, and releasing enterprise container images that internal developers can consume across the organization. The role is highly development and automation focused, with Python and Shell scripting as key requirements. This developer will work with vendor images, including middleware and database technologies, customize them to meet enterprise requirements, automate their release, remediate security vulnerabilities, and enhance internal applications. The ideal candidate has a strong development mindset, hands-on Linux and container experience, and familiarity with Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift environments.
Day-to-Day:
- Serve as part of the developer team responsible for providing approved container images for internal bank development teams
- Take vendor images from providers such as Red Hat or IBM, configure and enhance them to meet bank requirements, and release bank-approved versions for developers to consume
- Develop and maintain automation using Python and Shell scripting
- Enhance internal applications built with technologies such as Python and Node.js
- Configure and modify container images based on internal developer requirements
- Perform daily vulnerability scans, review results, and remediate vulnerabilities within images and applications
- Debug and analyze issues reported by internal development teams and provide technical support
- Automate image development, configuration, testing, and release processes
- Gather requirements from users and determine how images should be configured
- Write scripts and implement feature enhancements
- Upcoming work will have a particular focus on IBM WebSphere, including learning the image, gathering user requirements, determining appropriate configurations, and scripting those configurations
- Use Kubernetes/OpenShift as the platform where images run, rather than administering the Kubernetes/OpenShift infrastructure itself
