Job title: Senior Systems Engineer – Infrastructure Automation & Virtualization Position Overview
Contribute to a data center consolidation initiative focused on infrastructure automation, standardized deployments, systems engineering, and enterprise virtualization. This role combines infrastructure delivery automation with Linux and Windows engineering, Java application server implementation, and VMware-based virtualization supporting both custom-developed and commercial off-the-shelf applications.
The position offers an opportunity to work across infrastructure engineering, automation, storage, and application hosting technologies while supporting modernized infrastructure service delivery.
What You'll Do / Key Responsibilities
- Automate infrastructure delivery using configuration orchestration and management solutions.
- Develop and utilize scripting solutions to support infrastructure engineering and automation.
- Implement operating system hardening practices and standardized image-based deployment methodologies.
- Apply Linux and Windows systems engineering principles.
- Implement Java application servers, including technologies such as JBOSS EAP and Tomcat.
- Support compute virtualization for custom-developed and commercial off-the-shelf applications using VMware technology.
- Work with converged storage solutions utilizing Pure Storage.
Required Qualifications
- Experience automating infrastructure delivery with configuration orchestration and management solutions such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
- Understanding of coding practices and development using a scripting language such as PowerShell, Python, or UNIX Shell Scripting.
- Experience with operating system hardening practices and methodologies for templating deployments from standardized images.
- Knowledge of Linux and Windows systems engineering principles.
- Experience implementing Java application servers such as JBOSS EAP or Tomcat.
- Experience with compute virtualization using VMware technology for custom-developed and commercial off-the-shelf software.
- Experience with converged storage solutions utilizing Pure Storage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with middleware solutions such as IBM MQ, Kafka, or Confluent.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD solutions such as GitLab or Jenkins.
- Software engineering experience, particularly Java software development.
- Experience containerizing applications, preferably using Kubernetes, specifically OpenShift.
- Experience implementing service catalog automation for infrastructure service delivery.
- Experience with incident triage, including scope determination, impact assessment, and service restoration.
