Data Architect (Middlefield, OH)
Build the data foundation for a growing company.
We’re looking for a Data Architect who wants to own something. You’ll start by getting your hands into the data, then shape it into a unified, modern platform the whole business relies on. You’ll report to our Vice President of Information Technology and work closely with Finance, Sales, and Operations. Your work will be seen and used by leadership every day.
What makes this role different
- Real ownership. You’re not maintaining someone else’s system. You’ll design the data model, choose the approach, and see it through.
- A clear path. You’ll begin with hands-on reporting and analysis, then move into designing scalable data models, pipelines, and enterprise reporting solutions.
- Modern tools. You’ll move our reporting from Excel to Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, and help build toward a centralized Lakehouse/Warehouse platform.
- Visibility. Your executive dashboards will inform decisions at the top of the company.
- A long-term home. You’ll live with the architecture you build, which means you get to improve it, not hand it off.
What you’ll do
- Extract, analyze, and validate data from our SQL Server databases, CMS applications, SalesPad, and Microsoft Dynamics GP
- Design and implement a unified data model across our business systems
- Build and optimize data pipelines using SQL and modern data tools
- Create dashboards and reports for Sales, Operations, Finance, and executive leadership
- Replace manual, Excel-based reporting with automated, scalable solutions
- Champion data quality, governance, and consistency
- Turn business questions into technical solutions, and recommend improvements to our data and analytics strategy
Qualifications
What you bring
- 4–8 years in data analysis, data engineering, or data architecture
- Strong SQL skills (complex queries, transformations, performance tuning), ideally on SQL Server
- Hands-on Power BI experience, including data modeling and DAX
- Advanced Excel skills, including ODBC-based reporting
- A knack for learning complex data structures quickly, and the curiosity to ask, “Why does the data look like this?”
- Clear communication with both technical and non-technical people
- A sense of accountability for the accuracy and reliability of your data
Nice to have
- Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or Synapse experience
- ERP/CRM experience, especially Dynamics GP or SalesPad
- Dimensional modeling (star schema) and ETL/ELT experience
- Data warehousing, Lakehouse, or data governance experience
You’ll thrive here if you
- Take pride in practical, usable solutions over perfect-on-paper ones
- Work well independently while juggling multiple priorities
- Like being embedded with the business and invested in its long-term success
- Are excited by a growing, evolving data environment
