Position Summary:
As a School Bus Driver for Greene County CSD, you will play a vital role in ensuring students are transported safely to and from school and school-related activities. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are dependable, enjoy working with children, and are committed to student safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a school bus along designated routes
- Pick up and drop off students at scheduled stops
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus
- Maintain discipline and ensure safety rules are followed on the bus
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Follow all district policies and state regulations regarding school transportation
- Report any concerns or incidents to the Transportation Director
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Valid Iowa Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements – or willingness to obtain with district support
- Clear driving record and background check
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening
- Good communication skills and a calm, student-centered demeanor
- Dependable and punctual
Schedule:
- Typical routes include morning and afternoon shifts during the school year
- Opportunities for additional driving (field trips, activities, etc.) available
- Substitute and part-time roles also open
