Original job description

What is a Corrugator?

Ever wonder where the cardboard boxes you see every day come from?

A corrugator is a large manufacturing machine that takes rolls of paper and combines them to create corrugated board, the strong, layered material used to make shipping boxes and packaging.

As a Corrugator Technician, you’ll help create the material that eventually becomes the boxes and packaging that people and businesses rely on every day.

Your Schedule

This position follows a weekly rotating schedule within our Corrugator Department. Team members rotate between:

  • 1st Shift: 5:55 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • 2nd Shift: 1:55 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Monday-Friday

• Overtime may be required, including weekends, based on production needs.

What You'll Do

As part of the Corrugator Team, you’ll work alongside your crew to safely operate equipment that turns rolls of paper into the corrugated board used to make boxes and packaging people see every day.

  • Put safety first by following established safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Help start up, operate, change over, and clean corrugator equipment.
  • Prepare and stage paper rolls according to the production schedule and move rolls to the machine using a roll clamp truck.
  • Set up and adjust equipment, including the glue and adhesive systems.
  • Use computer controls to enter and monitor production settings such as board length and stack counts.
  • Keep materials ready for upcoming production runs to help prevent shortages and delays.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the production process and use measuring tools to verify corrugated board dimensions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment or process issues and communicate maintenance or quality concerns to the Team Operations Manager.
  • Accurately record production time, material usage, and other production information.
  • Monitor and maintain the plant scrap baler system.
  • Keep your work area clean, organized, and ready for production.
  • Work together with your crew to solve problems, improve processes, and meet daily production goals.
  • Take on additional tasks and projects as needed.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is ready to learn, contribute, and grow.

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Enjoy hands-on work and learning how equipment operates
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully
  • Take pride in producing quality work
  • Can prioritize tasks and stay productive in a fast-paced environment
