Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role is accountable for safe work, quality, schedule performance, and labor productivity. The manager directs Production Supervisors, who lead Team Leads and Production Associates, to build factory-integrated power, cooling, and white space infrastructure to approved requirements.
Responsibilities
Enforce safe work practices, required protective equipment, and housekeeping standards. Stop unsafe work and partner with HSE to investigate incidents and close corrective actions.
- Execute the production schedule with Production Planning. Convert released work into daily assignments by supervisor, crew, work order, and work location. Escalate capacity constraints before commitments slip.
- Lead and develop Production Supervisors. Set clear expectations, coach performance, and work with HR on hiring, onboarding, attendance, training, and corrective action.
- Balance staffing and skills across workstations and shifts. Control overtime within approved limits, maintain cross-training plans, and provide the Plant Manager with labor and capacity forecasts.
- Confirm current drawings, bills of material, work orders, pick tickets, travelers, materials, and tooling are ready before work starts. Resolve shortages with Production Planning and Warehouse.
- Ensure crews follow approved drawings and work instructions. Route technical questions and changes through Engineering. Maintain required inspections, traceability, and test records with Quality.
- Manage work through assembly, testing, punch-list closure, and production completion. Coordinate factory acceptance testing and release readiness with Quality and Operations Project Management.
- Track labor hours against budgets and completed quantities. Record progress, material usage, scrap, rework, and downtime accurately in the required production systems.
- Run daily production reviews and shift handoffs. Report actual output, open constraints, and recovery actions to the Plant Manager, Production Planning, and Operations Project Management.
- Improve work methods, line balance, cycle times, and material flow with Industrial Engineering. Coordinate equipment readiness and maintenance with Facilities to reduce interruptions.
Performance is measured against targets established with the Plant Manager for the assigned production area.
- Safety performance, hazard correction, and completion of required training.
- Schedule attainment, completed units, and readiness for testing and shipment.
- Labor hours per unit, performance against labor budgets, and overtime control.
