Job Description: Responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, and housekeeping functions for all plant buildings, grounds, and equipment. Performs all mechanical, electrical and other repairs, as well as all required and preventative maintenance for plant production equipment and machinery as assigned. Reports to Maintenance Supervisor and may direct activities of Maintenance Utility. Rotating On-Call shifts after training period may be required. Primary Functions: Performs general repairs and preventive maintenance with respect to all plant buildings and grounds as required. Performs general repairs and schedules and performs preventative maintenance for all plant equipment and machinery, such as oiling, greasing, making adjustments, replacing parts and other similar related duties. Interprets the maintenance manuals, drawings, blue prints, schematics and other construction and/or engineering documents pertaining to all machines, electrical supply circuits, electrical motors and other mechanical, electric, and/or hydraulic or pneumatic devices. Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on all facilities and production equipment. Rebuilds and perform complicated repairs to equipment and machinery. Identifies sources of problems by observing; listening; using precision measuring equipment and or testing instruments. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventory by checking stock; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies by placing orders and verifying receipt Works with a minimum of supervision. Independently directs Maintenance Helpers and Plant Utility personnel to accomplish required maintenance, repair, and housekeeping duties. Performs miscellaneous related tasks as assigned, such as handling and moving materials, equipment, machinery and supplies. Maintains all records required for maintenance work. Completes requisitions and/or purchase orders for assigned maintenance projects for approval by management. Maintains assigned work area in clean and orderly condition. Notifies supervision of any unusual situations requiring attention. Performs Janitorial duties as required. Performs work in a safe manner and observes all safety rules and practices. Performs other work as required and/or assigned.
