About ePS Packaging
At ePS Packaging, we’re shaping the future of packaging through technology. As a global leader in industry-specific business and production software, we help packaging companies streamline operations, boost efficiency, and unlock growth.
With over 30 years of experience, a global footprint, and a deep understanding of the packaging industry, we believe one thing above all: our success grows when our customers thrive.
About The Role
The primary purpose of this role is to support the successful delivery, installation, and commissioning of projects in collaboration with the DMI and Implementations teams, ensuring customer satisfaction and sign-off.
The role is to survey, install, and commission our systems onto existing customer machinery. We work with low voltage signals – commonly 24vDC. There is also occasionally a requirement to assist with/do the full system installation on behalf of the customer, so mechanical skills are also vital to have – as this will include wire pulling, installing sensors/buttons to machines, and on occasion adding wire containment as well.
The site survey is a requirement that means we provide our customers with recommended locations of sensors/buttons and other items or advising what existing sensors we will use on machines, and suggested location of our electrical panels. There is a detailed write up that has to be provided back to each site and commonly this contains a parts list as well. This document is also used as our main guide as to how we expect the systems to accurately count the products being produced on each machine – this varies per machine and per site.
Basic installation/commissioning is simply connection the wires that the customer has installed to the machine side connections (that they will have done), and the install these into our cabinets and test. The outcome is to provide a final input/output list that needs to be mapped into our software for final signal testing. Solid knowledge of reading detailed electrical drawings, creating installation drawings using AutoCad, and being able to work closely with customer engineers and often OEM engineers is a must. A working knowledge of OPCUA & MODBUS_TCP is also an advantage for the future.
You will work closely with the DMI team to deliver projects and installations through successful completion, operating within the Implementations team to ensure high-quality execution. A key responsibility is creating and communicating detailed commissioning plans during site surveys, with a strong understanding of the software component of the product. This knowledge supports involvement in both the delivery and setup of software, ensuring seamless integration with hardware installations.
The role includes supporting the wider team by communicating project updates to customers, as well as producing cable schedules and electrical drawings where required. You will assist with electrical terminations, including taking responsibility for final connections and commissioning activities, and occasionally support cable installations and the installation of sensors or other hardware on machinery.
In addition, you will work closely with Customer Success teams to resolve issues reported by customers, ensuring a high level of service and responsiveness. You will proactively engage with colleagues to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, providing regular feedback to the DMI team on enhancements or new business opportunities.
Maintaining a strong commitment to health and safety is essential, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and in full compliance with customer requirements, company policies, and risk assessments.
