The Solution Architect supports the design and delivery of secure, scalable technology solutions for 7NOW and related digital commerce experiences. This role translates defined business and product requirements into solution designs across applications, APIs, integrations, data, and cloud services. Working with product, engineering, architecture, security, data, QA, DevOps, and operations teams, the architect applies established standards and patterns, documents technical decisions, and helps delivery teams resolve design issues. The role contributes to modernization, reliability, reuse, and continuous improvement under the guidance of senior technical leaders.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Support end-to-end solution design for digital commerce capabilities, including customer experiences, backend services, APIs, integrations, data flows, and cloud services.
- Translate defined business, product, and nonfunctional requirements into technical designs, implementation guidance, and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews; document system boundaries, interfaces, dependencies, risks, and technical decisions.
- Provide design clarification, reference patterns, and implementation support to engineering teams, escalating complex decisions when needed.
- Apply established security, resiliency, observability, and cost-management practices to cloud-native solutions.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, DevOps, QA, data, product, operations, and vendors to align designs with enterprise standards and delivery priorities.
- Identify technical risks, debt, scalability constraints, and integration gaps, and recommend practical mitigations with guidance from senior architects.
- Contribute to reusable patterns and guardrails that improve interoperability, maintainability, reliability, and customer experience.
- Assist with technology evaluations, proofs of concept, capacity planning, release readiness, incident reviews, and platform improvements.
- Communicate solution options, tradeoffs, dependencies, and impacts clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred. YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 5+ years in software engineering, application design, or solution architecture, including experience supporting customer-facing or cloud-based applications.
YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: Not required; experience coordinating technical work across teams is preferred. CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: Relevant cloud, security, or architecture certification is a plus but not required.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of solution architecture practices, domain modeling, design patterns, architecture decision records, and current-state and target-state documentation.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, or comparable application and integration technologies.
- Practical knowledge of AWS cloud services; experience with several services such as ECS/Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, or CloudWatch is preferred.
- Familiarity with native iOS or Android application architecture and development concepts; experience with Swift, SwiftUI, Kotlin, or Jetpack Compose is a plus.
- Understanding of mobile integration patterns such as APIs, authentication, secure storage, push notifications, deep linking, analytics, and feature configuration.
- Awareness of mobile performance, accessibility, privacy, application security, automated testing, observability, and mobile application release processes.
- Good understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, caching, scalability, resiliency, and high-availability concepts.
- Experience with relational or NoSQL data technologies, including basic data modeling, integration, performance, and consistency considerations.
- Knowledge of application and API security concepts, including identity, authentication, authorization, OAuth, JWT, encryption, and secure coding.
- Working knowledge of DevSecOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, observability, release management, and incident management.
- Ability to compare solution options and explain tradeoffs involving delivery speed, cost, risk, maintainability, reliability, and customer impact.
- Ability to collaborate across teams, facilitate technical discussions, work through ambiguity, and build alignment with guidance when needed.
- Strong written, verbal, problem-solving, facilitation, and presentation skills.
