We are actively hiring for the position of Pack/Ship Lead for our plant in Wixom, MI.
Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Duties & Responsibilities
- Train and coach the Pack/Ship team so everyone meets our packing and shipping standards.
- Spot skill gaps and help close them, and teach people to solve problems on their own.
- Watch daily TAKT and move people and priorities to keep work flowing and orders on time.
- Catch bottlenecks early and raise anything that could put customer delivery at risk.
- Keep standard work current, and create it where it doesn't exist yet.
- Build and maintain packaging practices that meet FedEx requirements.
- Make sure the right hardware and the right labels go out with every order.
- Find the root cause of shipping errors and surcharges and put fixes in place that stick.
- Give clear shift handoffs so nothing gets lost between shifts.
- Work closely with Cut, Print, and Supervisors to keep work moving through the shop.
- Lead by example on quality, safety, and teamwork, and pitch in outside Pack/Ship when the shop needs it.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- One or more years of packing, shipping, or production experience, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to learn the work, teach it to others, and lead a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills for shipping systems and tracking results.
- Willingness to support all three shifts and work overtime when needed.
Preferred (nice to have)
- Prior experience as a lead or in a similar working leadership role.
- Experience with FedEx shipping requirements or carrier systems.
- Experience in a print or large format production environment.
- Exposure to continuous improvement practices, such as standard work or TAKT.
