Description Headquartered in Beverly, Massachusetts, Delta Electronics Mfg. Corp. has been a trusted manufacturer of high-frequency RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave interconnect solutions for over 60 years. Delivering to defense, aerospace, space, semiconductor, and high-reliability commercial markets, Delta operates a fully vertically integrated manufacturing facility housing raw material stock to finished goods - including high-precision CNC machining, electroplating, soldering, micro-assembly, and testing.
Position Overview:
Delta Electronics is seeking a hands-on, metrics-driven Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead our manufacturing engineering team and process optimization initiatives in Beverly. As Delta expands operations to meet growing market demand, this role acts as the operational engine translating complex RF/microwave interconnect designs into repeatable, cost-effective, and scalable production processes. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills alongside deep expertise in tight-tolerance manufacturing (CNC turning/milling, electroplating, cable assembly, and manual/automated assembly) to drive manufacturing efficiency, tooling optimization, continuous improvement execution, and technical project management.
Requirements
Departmental Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and direct the Beverly-based manufacturing engineering team, process technicians, and toolmakers.
- Establish and manage key engineering KPI such as cycle-time reduction, tooling optimization, and variance reduction.
- Foster a collaborative, floor-focused team culture built on continuous improvement and problem-solving.
Shop Floor Execution & Continuous Improvement:
- Provide immediate engineering support to resolve daily manufacturing bottlenecks, tooling issues, and cost of poor-quality reduction across machining, plating, and assembly departments.
- Collaborative support of Continuous Improvement initiatives (5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, SMED, Six Sigma) to optimize plant layout, streamline material flow and reduce variances
- Manage structured root-cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) for non-conformances and implement robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Process Design, Tooling & Capital Equipment (CapEx):
- Oversee the design, fabrication, and validation of custom tooling, fixtures, and secondary assembly equipment.
- Establish and maintain manufacturing governing documentation, including Work Instructions (SOPs), Router Steps, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Identify, justify, and execute Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects for new machinery, tooling automation, and advanced test/inspection technology.
NPI Readiness & DFM (Design for Manufacturability):
- Partner with R&D and Product Engineering during design phases to conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews.
- Facilitate New Product Introduction (NPI) Project Management from prototype handoff through full production ramp, supporting AS9100 deliverables, first article inspection, cell design, low-rate initial production, and value stream management.
Quality & Military Standard Compliance:
- Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure all manufacturing processes comply with AS9100, ISO 9001, and military specification standards (e.g., MIL-PRF-39012, MIL-PRF-55339, QPL requirements).
- Lead Process Control initiatives including Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plan development for key product families.
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 6+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience.
- 2+ years in a direct managerial, supervisory, or technical lead role.
- Solid background in CAD software (SolidWorks) for tooling/fixture design.
- Strong mastery of Lean/Six Sigma toolset and statistical process control (SPC).
- Direct working experience with ERP/MRP systems driving Shop Floor Management, Router Design, Bill of Material Design
- High-energy leadership with an active, daily presence on the manufacturing floor.
- Excellent cross-functional communication and crisis-handling skills.
- Entrepreneurial, bias for action and ability to drive change autonomously
