POSITION SUMMARY
The Salesforce Program Manager is the senior client-facing owner of platform strategy for a Salesforce Center of Innovation. You will work alongside the customer to shape and maintain their roadmap, translating mission priorities into a sequenced plan. The role functions much like a product manager for an enterprise platform, and the core of it is judgment under constraint: what to build now, what to defer, what to retire, and what to decline.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Roadmap and Strategy
- Partner with the customer to build and maintain the platform roadmap, sequencing capabilities against mission priorities, dependencies, and available capacity.
- Translate agency strategic objectives into a platform strategy that holds up across multiple budget cycles.
- Assess where the platform should consolidate, expand, or retire capability across the org footprint.
- Bring the Salesforce product roadmap into planning so the agency adopts native capability rather than building around it.
Tradeoffs and Decisions
- Lead tradeoff discussions among stakeholders with competing priorities and a shared capacity constraint.
- Frame options with cost, risk, and downstream implications made explicit, so decisions are made with full visibility.
- Make and defend recommendations on build versus configure versus buy, and on what will not get done.
- Maintain a clear prioritization rationale that survives leadership turnover and staff changes.
Program Oversight
- Oversee delivery across multiple teams and Salesforce orgs, keeping the portfolio aligned to the roadmap.
- Track program-level risk, dependency, and schedule health, and intervene before issues reach the customer.
- Partner with architects to keep the roadmap technically achievable and the technical debt visible.
- Report program status, outcomes, and delivered value to government and company leadership.
Client Partnership
- Serve as one of the strategic point of contact for the customer on platform direction.
- Build durable trust with government stakeholders at both working and executive levels.
- Anticipate mission shifts and bring the customer options before they have to ask for them.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in program management, product management, or enterprise platform delivery.
- Experience managing large enterprise Salesforce environments spanning multiple orgs.
- Prior Salesforce program or portfolio experience supporting a federal agency.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government background investigation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Program Management Professional (PgMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Salesforce Certified Application Architect or Salesforce Certified Business Analyst.
- Experience owning a product roadmap for an enterprise platform serving many internal customers.
- Experience with Salesforce Government Cloud or other FedRAMP environments.
- Familiarity with federal budget and acquisition cycles and how they constrain roadmap planning.
- Jira and Confluence, plus ServiceNow or a comparable IT service management platform.
