Job Description Summary
POSITION OVERVIEW
Learn To Be is a nonprofit that gives free 1-on-1 online tutoring to K–12 students from under-resourced communities. Every week, some students are waiting for a tutor. As an Operations Intern, your job is to make sure none of them wait too long. You’ll work with and report to the Learn To Be Operations team.
We’re looking for someone who uses AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude extensively, and not just for homework help or the basic stuff. You’ve built real things with them: an app, an automation, a spreadsheet workflow, a custom GPT, anything. You’d rather figure something out than wait to be told how, and you care about kids getting a fair shot.
Speaking Spanish is a plus, since many of our families speak Spanish at home.
Work Schedule: 15-20 hours per week on a consistent, reliable schedule set with Learn To Be’s Operations team. Late afternoons and evenings are a plus as that is when families are easiest to reach.
Primary Location: Virtual
Responsibilities
- Keep track of every student waiting for a tutor, starting with students who come to us through our partner organizations
- Find out why a student hasn’t been paired yet (no tutor available for that time, subject or grade, or a family that stopped responding) and fix it
- Follow up with families and tutors by phone, email and text so pairings actually start
- Use ChatGPT, Claude and similar tools to speed up this work: drafting messages, cleaning up spreadsheets, spotting patterns, building small tools
- Tell the Operations team what’s broken in the process and help fix it
Required Qualifications
- College/University student awarded Federal Work Study
- Reside in the United States
- Able to work 15–20 hours every week, reliably and predictably, including during midterms and finals
- Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to build something real
- Clear, friendly written communication and comfortable making phone calls to parents and volunteers
- Consent to a DOJ Dru Sjodin Sex Offender Database Background check
- Have access to a device with internet access and a working webcam
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of technology or the ability to learn quickly
- Responsible, organized and a good communicator
- Flexible & empathetic to students from differing circumstances
- Passionate about working with K- 12 students
Special Instructions to Applicants Must have FWS and will need to complete a Live Scan.
