We’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineer to help keep CFC’s global infrastructure reliable, secure and resilient.
With a particular focus on Microsoft Azure, you’ll use your infrastructure support experience to operate and improve our cloud and hybrid services across compute, storage and networking. You’ll take ownership of complex technical issues, help reduce operational risk and make sure the services our teams rely on are performing at their best.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll have the opportunity to solve challenging problems and make improvements that stick. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Technology, Information Security and engineering, bringing your expertise while continuing to build your own.
At CFC, we trust people to take ownership, welcome ideas from every level and encourage people to make things better, making this a great environment for someone who enjoys combining technical depth with initiative
About the role
- Manage and support our Microsoft Azure infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, monitoring and identity integrations.
- Take ownership of infrastructure incidents, problems and service requests across cloud and hybrid environments, seeing them through to resolution.
- Monitor availability, capacity, performance and security, spotting potential risks early and implementing sustainable improvements.
- Deliver infrastructure changes, upgrades, patching and lifecycle activities in line with change management and operational controls.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across Azure, Windows Server, storage, backup, DNS, routing, VPNs and firewalls.
- Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements, helping ensure critical services are recoverable and regularly validated.
- Partner with Technology, Information Security and engineering colleagues to automate, standardise and document secure, scalable infrastructure services.
- Provide desktop support to the Austin team during planned holidays and periods of sickness.
About you You’ll bring substantial hands-on experience in infrastructure operations, systems administration or infrastructure engineering within a complex organisation, alongside experience supporting business-critical services.
You’ll be confident working across Azure and hybrid environments and comfortable taking ownership when high-impact infrastructure incidents arise.
Technically, you’ll bring:
- Strong Microsoft Azure knowledge across virtual machines, storage, virtual networking, monitoring and Entra ID integrations.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, enterprise storage and backup.
- A solid grounding in networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls and routing.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure security, access management, audit evidence, change control and incident management.
- A disciplined approach to risk, documentation and operational controls, with the judgement to escalate when needed.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with PowerShell or infrastructure automation would be a bonus, rather than essential.
