About Bergen Family Center

Bergen Family Center (BFC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving nearly 5,000 individuals each year, including more than 1,000 families across Bergen County, New Jersey.

For over 125 years, BFC has strengthened communities by empowering individuals and families at every age and stage of life. Our mission is to provide compassionate, high-quality services that help people build stability, navigate challenges, and achieve greater independence and well-being.

Our Programs & Services Include:

Early Childhood Education: The Leonard Johnson Early Learning Center, offering daycare, Pre-K, after-school programming, and summer camp Youth Development: School-Based Youth Services at Dwight Morrow High School and Janis E. Dismus Middle School Senior Services: Adult Day Program and comprehensive elder care services Counseling & Support Services: Individual and family counseling addressing HIV/AIDS, trauma, family conflict, and workplace stress Family Strengthening: Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) and mentoring programs through our Family Success Center
