Operations Manager / Assistant General Manager SERVPRO Team O’Donnell | Westville, NJ (supporting Westville, NJ and Glen Mills, PA) Reports to: Scott O’Donnell, President Compensation: $90,000–$110,000 base, based on experience, plus quarterly growth-based bonus (approx. $10,000 additional annual earning potential)
About Us
SERVPRO Team O’Donnell has served South Jersey and the greater Philadelphia suburbs since 2001. With roughly 40 team members across two locations in Westville, NJ and Glen Mills, PA, we focus primarily on water mitigation and reconstruction, and the large majority of our work comes directly from homeowners and property owners. We’re growing, and we’ve created this new role to grow with us.
About the Role As the Operations Manager / Assistant General Manager, you will manage, support, and motivate our restoration teams on both sides of the Delaware River to drive customer satisfaction, revenue and profit growth, and staff development. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a desk job: on any given day we have 30+ team members in the field and anywhere from 30 to 60 active projects, and the best way to see how the work is going is to be there. You’ll split your time between the office and our job sites, auditing work in progress and coaching the project managers and crew leads who run it.
This position is designed as an on-ramp to General Manager. We’re looking for a leader we can develop and grow into the GM seat, and the compensation range is built to give you room to grow into that higher level.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and develop a team of 4 direct reports (Project Managers, Lead Technicians, etc.) and, through them, the broader field crews. · Spend regular time in the field (both Westville, NJ and Glen Mills, PA, within an approx. 25-mile radius) auditing job sites and making sure project managers and crew leads keep teams working safely, efficiently, and in the right direction. · Strengthen collaboration and integration between our New Jersey and Pennsylvania teams so they operate as one organization. · Establish best practices, set clear expectations, follow up consistently, and recognize and reward the behaviors that grow the business. · Re-prioritize and redeploy crews quickly when large losses or emergencies shift the day’s schedule. · Maintain continuous communication with ownership, staff, customers, and vendors to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. · Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols to ensure a positive customer and client experience. · Work with the Owner to ensure operations remain compliant with legal and regulatory requirements. · Develop, implement, and oversee protocols to maintain facilities, vehicles, equipment, and consumables. · Review, document, and discuss operational outcomes and key measures with the Owner. · Analyze the efficiency of existing processes and procedures and drive improvements that build the organization’s internal capacity. · Continue developing your own leadership, management, and restoration expertise in preparation for the General Manager role.
Requirements
Position Requirements · 5+ years of experience in the restoration or construction industry. A background in the trades or construction combined with restoration experience is ideal. · 3+ years of management experience, including leading field teams. · Customer-facing experience; you’ll interact with homeowners and property owners regularly, often in their homes during a stressful time. · Strong interpersonal, leadership, and management skills. · Effective written and oral communication skills. · Strong Excel skills and experience with workflow management systems. · High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent hands-on industry experience is valued. · Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications · IICRC certifications strongly preferred. · Project management certification and/or construction-related certifications. · Experience with restoration-specific software and CRM platforms. · Experience in any of the following: water mitigation, reconstruction, fire and smoke/odor, storm damage, mold remediation, contents, large loss, biohazard, and crime scene cleanup. · Background in project- and completion-driven environments (restoration companies, trade companies, or similar).
Who Thrives Here Restoration is not an 8-to-5 job. Schedules are set the night before and can change by morning when a large loss comes in, and the occasional after-hours call comes with the territory. The people who do well here are goal-oriented, persistent, and ready to respond. They enjoy managing many moving pieces at once and get satisfaction from seeing each project through to completion. If you prefer a fixed, predictable daily routine, this likely isn’t the right fit.
Skills/Physical Demands/Competencies · Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance · Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, attics) · Ability to repetitively push/pull/lift/carry objects · Ability to work with/around cleaning agents
