EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Understanding of manufacturing and assembly principles; ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and aptitude for learning manufacturing software.
- Ability to manage priorities independently and work across engineering, quality, and production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two to five years of relevant manufacturing or process engineering experience.
- Experience creating standardized work instructions or digital technical documentation; Dozuki experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, process improvement, inspection, and test documentation.
- Experience with CAD (preferably Autodesk), ERP/MES, manufacturing data systems, Domo or Power BI, and workflow automation.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & PROFICIENCY
- Digital work instructions and revision control; Dozuki or similar platforms.
- Mechanical/electrical drawings, assembly methods, manufacturing process flow, and technical documentation.
- Quality inspection, test procedures, manufacturing traceability, and controlled data capture.
- Excel, reporting and business intelligence tools; ERP/MES and digital workflows.
- CAD systems, manufacturing process optimization, and continuous improvement methods.
DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY
The engineer is expected to independently identify problems, challenge inefficient methods constructively, and confidently propose solutions supported by engineering judgment, shop floor observation, and data. During initial onboarding, proposed manufacturing and assembly process changes must be reviewed and approved by the Director of Manufacturing Execution before implementation. As the engineer demonstrates sound judgment and knowledge of company processes, the Director may delegate authority to implement defined categories of lower-risk changes. Delegation is based on demonstrated competence, not a fixed timetable. The engineer remains accountable for communicating changes, updating controlled documentation, and verifying effectiveness. Changes affecting product design, controlled specifications, electrical requirements, test acceptance criteria, safety, or regulatory/quality obligations require review and approval from the appropriate authorized functions, regardless of delegated manufacturing process authority.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Documentation quality: Instructions are accurate, usable, current, controlled, and aligned with approved requirements; effectiveness takes priority over volume.
- Process improvement: Identifies, recommends, and validates practical improvements to efficiency, consistency, quality, and ease of assembly.
- Dozuki and digital systems: Maintains a reliable platform, improves adoption, and expands appropriate data capture and reporting.
- Automation and reporting: Works with technical partners to reduce unnecessary manual work and improve visibility of useful manufacturing data.
- Shop floor engagement: Maintains consistent contact with production personnel and verifies that instructions work in practice.
- Communication and collaboration: Communicates progress and risks promptly, seeks stakeholder input, and coordinates approved changes.
- Ownership and execution: Manages priorities, meets agreed timelines, follows through, and keeps project status visible.
- Professional growth: Develops product/process knowledge, exercises sound judgment, and earns increasing independence.
Performance indicators and numerical targets should be established after evaluating current process and documentation baselines.
