Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Business Analyst to help turn business needs into well-defined, user-friendly solutions across Microsoft Power Platform and SharePoint. This person will work directly with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to understand current processes, uncover the real business need, document requirements, and support delivery from discovery through user acceptance testing and rollout.
This is not a purely administrative BA role. The right person is comfortable working in Power Apps, Power Automate, and SharePoint closely enough to shape feasible requirements, map workflows, validate solutions, and communicate clearly with both end users and developers.
What You’ll Do
- Lead stakeholder interviews, discovery sessions, and working meetings to understand business processes, pain points, and desired outcomes.
- Elicit, analyze, prioritize, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
- Translate business needs into clear process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and workflow documentation.
- Partner with Power Platform developers and SharePoint administrators to define practical solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Lists, and related Microsoft 365 tools.
- Review and improve current-state workflows; identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve approvals, and strengthen visibility into work and data.
- Work hands-on in Power Apps, Power Automate, and SharePoint to prototype simple solutions, validate configuration, test workflows, and support troubleshooting as needed.
- Facilitate backlog refinement, requirements reviews, demos, and stakeholder sign-off in an Agile delivery environment.
- Define and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT); document test scenarios, track defects, validate fixes, and confirm that delivered solutions meet business requirements.
- Create clear end-user and project documentation, including process diagrams, requirements documents, user guides, training materials, and release communications.
- Help stakeholders adopt new tools and processes through training, office hours, and practical change-management support.
- Coordinate closely with project leadership, business users, and technical teams; provide timely status updates and raise risks or dependencies early.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal, public-sector, regulated, or large enterprise environments.
- Experience with Power BI, Dataverse, Teams, Microsoft 365 governance, and/or ServiceNow.
- Familiarity with Power Platform environment management, permissions, connectors, solution lifecycle management, and governance considerations.
- Experience with SharePoint modernization or migration from legacy workflows, SharePoint Designer, or older SharePoint environments.
- Power Platform certification such as PL-900, PL-100, PL-200, or PL-400; CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, CSM, or PMP is a plus.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar experience.
- Demonstrated strength in requirements elicitation: stakeholder interviews, workshops, process analysis, user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements traceability.
- Hands-on working experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, and SharePoint Online in a business-process, workflow, collaboration, or document-management environment.
- Experience translating business processes into Power Platform or SharePoint solution requirements - not simply gathering notes for a technical team.
- Solid understanding of SharePoint lists, libraries, permissions, content organization, and workflow use cases.
- Experience documenting current-state and future-state processes using Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or a similar tool.
- Experience supporting Agile delivery, including backlog management, story refinement, sprint planning, demos, and UAT.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical choices in business language.
- Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC two days per week; must be based in, or able to reliably commute within, the DC metro area
