Position Overview We are seeking a versatile, safety-conscious Electrical Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will assist licensed and lead technicians across a wide variety of commercial and high-end residential projects. While our core expertise is rooted in advanced low-voltage and building automation systems, our scope extends to critical power infrastructure, EV charging networks, standby generators, and smart architectural lighting. This position is ideal for an apprentice, trade school graduate, or technician eager to expand their skillset across both traditional high-voltage electrical installations and modern digital systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Low-Voltage Systems Installation: Pull, terminate, label, and test structured cabling (Cat6/6A, fiber optic, coax), audio/video, access control, and low-voltage control circuits.
- Line-Voltage & Power Support: Assist lead electricians in running conduit (EMT, PVC, rigid), pulling line-voltage wire, setting rough-in junction boxes, and making panel connections in accordance with NEC standards.
- EV Charging & Power Equipment: Support the installation, mounting, and wiring of commercial and residential EV charging stations, standby generator subpanels, transfer switches, and backup power equipment.
- Digital Addressable Lighting Systems: Assist in installing, addressing, and roughing-in modern digital lighting protocols (such as DALI, 0–10V, and networked lighting controls).
- Site Preparation & Safety: Load, transport, and inventory job-site materials; maintain tool condition; and enforce OSHA and site-specific safety protocols at all times.
- Testing & Documentation: Assist with basic circuit tracing, continuity testing, voltage checks, and updating site redlines/as-builts.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on electrical, low-voltage, or trade-apprentice experience (trade school completion may substitute for field experience).
- Licensing / Certification: Valid state electrical apprentice card (or willingness to register upon hire) preferred. OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
- Technical Aptitude:
- Familiarity with hand and power tools (drills, benders, multimeters, fish tapes).
- Understanding of basic electrical circuits, color coding, and wiring topologies.
- Ability to read or learn basic schematics, wiring diagrams, and architectural prints.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to climb ladders, work from scaffolding or lifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied environments (crawlspaces, attics, mechanical rooms, construction sites).
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to job sites or the shop.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to addressable lighting controls (DALI, Lutron EcoSystem, or DMX).
- Experience assisting with transfer switch installations or generator hookups.
- Familiarity with network punch-downs, RJ-45 termination, and structured cable testing.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: [$18.00 – $26.00 per hour, commensurate with experience]
- Benefits:
- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance coverage
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays
- Tool allowance or provided company specialty tools
- Apprenticeship sponsorship and continuing education reimbursement
