Night shift: 4 shifts of 12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) will provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients experiencing complex health issues. The unit primarily deals with telemetry and medical PCU overflow cases, with a patient population consisting mainly of those with diagnoses such as CHF, new onset Afib, COPD, and pneumonia. The RN will work in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team that includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
- Manage cardiac telemetry and assist with the care of patients on various drips, including Heparin and Cardizem.
- Perform specialized nursing procedures, including central line and feeding tube management, CBI, and tracheostomy care.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation using the Cerner charting system.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate on patient care strategies.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a PCU or telemetry environment.
- Previous charge experience is preferred.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active and unrestricted RN license (PA or Compact).
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications required.
