The schedule for this position is Night Shift, working either 3x12 or 4x12 hours, with every other weekend required.
Job Description
This role involves working in a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit, which includes OB Triage and Antepartum care. The average daily deliveries are around 7, with the possibility of up to 14 patients during peak times. The unit is equipped with 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms, and utilizes Epic for charting.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and IV therapies, including magnesium sulfate and antihypertensives.
- Perform triage assessments and provide care for antepartum patients.
- Assist with a variety of procedures, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.
- Provide postpartum care for new mothers and their infants, including breastfeeding support.
- Conduct non-stress tests (NSTs) and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
- Ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of Charge Nurse experience is preferred.
- Experience in a Labor and Delivery setting is strongly preferred.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active RN license in Alaska required for auto offer.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced required.
- NRP certification required.
