Job Description
The Detox Unit at Hillside Hospital provides specialized care for patients undergoing withdrawal from substance use. As a Registered Nurse, you will work with a diverse patient population ranging from ages 18 to geriatric, occasionally including 17-year-olds. You will be responsible for administering medications, conducting CIWA/COWS assessments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care. Familiarity with treatment protocols for substance abuse, including benzodiazepine and opioid tapers, is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and manage care plans for detox patients.
- Administer medications as prescribed, including various tapering protocols.
- Monitor patient vitals and manage withdrawal symptoms using CIWA/COWS protocols.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Participate in bedside shift reporting and maintain effective communication with team members.
Required Experience
Minimum of 3 years experience in a clinical setting, with a preference for 5+ years in detox or related fields.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current RN licensure in the state of Tennessee.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred.
