Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-operative Care
- Review health history on all patients
- Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing health history and consent, obtaining vital signs, IV insertion, answering all questions and preparing patient for sedation
- Intra-operative Care
- Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures
- Documentation of all necessary information on the anesthesia record
- Monitor patient's vitals signs and sedation level
- Maintain a clean environment and adhere to infection control protocols
- Administer medications under the surgeon's direction
- Post-operative Care
- Monitor patients in surgery room until awake enough to move to recovery
- Utilization of e-prescribing software to send any post-operative medications
- Monitoring of patients in recovery until patient is ready for discharge
- Discharge teaching with patient's escort regarding follow-up care, pain management, activity, diet, etc
- Patient and Family Education
- Explanation of surgical procedures and recovery expectations
- Fielding of all calls to the office by patients/families with pre or post-op questions/concerns
- Administrative & Compliance
- Maintain accurate patient records and comply with HIPAA
- Ensure adherence to OSHA and company infection control guidelines
- Participate in continuing education and staff training
- Treatment plan creation and presentation to patient/family
- Documentation of all correspondence with patients/families, referring dentists and other health care professionals
- Follow-up and documentation for patients who require clearance prior to procedures
- Assist surgeon during consultations, check appointments and local anesthetic procedures
- Additional or different duties may be assigned occasionally at employer's discretion
- Work involves standing for extended periods, moving patients from surgery room to recovery room
- RNs rotate to all three offices and must be able to travel to all (Fairfield, Hamilton, Liberty Township)
- Hours are Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm, Friday 8am-3pm
